MAJOR POINTS: Lion, iOS 5 and iCloud.
Even though the above three areas were delt with in this conference I personally only want to focus on iOS 5 and somewhat on iCloud. Information on Lion can be found on Apple's Website. All I would like to say is Kudos to Apple for the price. At $29.99 I feel guilty as I anxiously wait for its release, which will be available only by download on the Mac Store.
Now to what I think is the most important part of WWDC 2011; iOS 5.
To say that this was a minor upgrade would be criminal. This upgrade has been needed for a long time and will be welcomed by the community with outstretched arms. This upgrade addresses Notifications, Safari, Game Center, Mail and much much more. But for me, the most important upgrade here is iMessages.
iMessages is RIM's worst nightmare. This "application", so to speak, is going to bury the competitiveness of Blackberry Messenger; Blackberry's strongest, and to some extent, only remaining selling point. Everyone who wanted to switch to an iPhone from a Blackberry refused as they were in love with the concept of BBM. But now, there is nothing stopping them. Indeed, RIM's stocks fell today by 0.20% and I imagine will continue to fall as the weeks progress and as iOS 5 is released.
