The widely described "Toilet seat" hat, worn by Princess Beatrice on the day of the Royal Wedding, was put on eBay where bids continue to soar to the tens of thousands!The most reacent bid was for the Philip Treacy Piece was £18,400 ($29,940) as 32 bidders placed 60 bids over the last 6 days! The Princess did say however, that all proceeds from the selling of the hat will go to the charities Unicef and Children in Crisis.
Yet the question of how this hat can be worth £18,000 let alone the bidding starting price of £5000 still remains. But I guess what this does show us is that sometimes sentimental value is really the only thing we care about, and money becomes irrelevant... Even if it does cost £18,400..
